Allow yourself adequate time to ORGANIZE the week

• Begin planning for National Young Readers Week 4-6 weeks in advance. Many of your celebrity readers will need sufficient time to prepare and to request time off of work, if needed.
  
  SET the date
• As soon as you hear back from your celebrity reader(s), mark the school calendar with the dates and times that your class will be hosting them.
  
  PROMOTE National Young Readers Week
• Get students, parents, and fellow teachers excited about the upcoming week of celebrity reader visits by including it in the school newsletter and sending home the National Young Readers Week Bookmarks.
• Contact your local media, asking for their assistance in getting the word out about your event.
  
  INVOLVE the entire school
• Make sure every class in your school has the opportunity to listen to at least one celebrity reader.
  
  SAY “Thank You”
• Show your appreciation for the celebrities’ time and effort by sending them thank you cards from your class.
