Plan Your Read-Aloud Time

• Schedule at least one specific block of time for reading aloud each day.

• Read the book ahead of time so you are familiar with it.

• Remember: the art of listening is an acquired one and must be taught.

Use the Interactive Poster and Cutouts

• Choose a location to hang the poster that will accommodate the cutouts – there will be a lot of them and they will spill out over the sides!

• Copy and cut out an adequate supply of the cutouts.

• Let the children participate in putting the cutouts on the poster.

Involve Parents

• Inform parents about the program by copying and sending home the parent letter/calendar.

• Have a supply of cutouts available for parents so when they read at home, they can bring the cutouts back to class to add to the poster.

• Invite parents to class to read to the children.
