Summer Game Night

Game Night

Glowing Backyard Game Night
Here are four ideas to have your very own glowing game night, right in your backyard! Pick up some glow sticks and necklaces at your local party or discount store, wait for the sun to set and have a glowing good time.

Night Bowling
•    10 recycled water bottles refilled with water
•    Basketball or soccer ball
•    Glow sticks
•    Glow-in-the-dark duct tape
Put a glow stick in each water bottle. Set them up in a triangle shape, like bowling pins. Use the glow-in-the-dark duct tape to make the lanes.

Glow Ring Toss
•    Package of glow in the dark necklaces
•    Glow sticks
•    Paint stick
•    Tape
Tape two glow sticks onto either side of the paint stick and put it in the ground glow sticks up to use at the target. Reinforce the necklaces at the connector using the tape. Take turns tossing the necklaces at the target. First one to 12 wins!

Glow in the dark bubbles
•    Small container of bubbles
•    Glow sticks
Ask an adult for help with this one! Open the glow stick and pour contents into a container of bubbles, shake well and enjoy your glowing bubbles.

How about a glow in the dark snack too!
Have your kids whip this up earlier in the day so it will be ready for your evening festivities!
(Hint: You will need a black light for your dessert to glow. The “glow” comes from the fluorescence of the quinine in the tonic water)
•    1 cup boiling water
•    1 cup tonic water
•    1 package your favorite flavored jello
•    4 Tablespoons sugar
•    Clear plastic cups
1.    Bring one cup of water to a boil.
2.    Pour jello packet into a large bowl.
3.    Have an adult help you add your boiling water.
4.    Stir for two minutes with a wire whisk.
5.    Pour one cup of tonic water into a measuring cup.
6.    Slowly whisk the hot jello mixture while adding the tonic water. The mixture will be very bubbly. Give it a couple of minutes to rest.
7.    Pour it into clear cups.
8.    Place in the refrigerator for two to three hours to set.
9.    Optional: Top with whipped cream and sprinkles.
10.    Gather around a black light and watch it glow!
