Thanksgiving is right around the corner! Even though the holiday may look very different this year, many of us thinking of family. We can also see reflected in children’s books that all families can be different from our own.

The True History of Lyndie B. Hawkins follows a teen stuck between family secrets and the rest of the world. Older readers will relate to her and her life struggles. 

Other Words for Home explores the life of a child who flees to America with her mother, leaving family behind in Syria, the only home she has ever known.
