Exquisite shares the life of poet Gwendolyn Brooks. She was inspired by the world around her, and she wrote about real-life topics such as love, loneliness, family, inequality, poverty and war. In 1950, Gwendolyn was the first black person to win a Pulitzer Prize for poetry, and in 1958 she was named Poet Laureate of Illinois.
