We expanded our commitment to literacy in 2016 by launching BOOK IT! In The Community (formerly The Literacy Project) and setting a goal to impact 100 million lives in 10 years by enabling access to books and educational resources, empowering teachers and inspiring readers.
First Book
Pizza Hut restaurants across the country host annual fundraisers that benefit First Book, a nonprofit social enterprise that believes education offers children in need the best path out of poverty. First Book breaks down barriers to quality education by making new, high-quality books and educational resources affordable for its 450,000-educator network.
Stories For All Project
Pizza Hut is proud to support First Book’s Stories For All Project™, one of the largest worldwide collections of diverse and inclusive children’s literature. Funds raised through The Literacy Project provide grants to educators to purchase culturally relevant titles on the First Book Marketplace; and they allow First Book to work with publishers to bring new Stories For All Project™ titles to life in paperback.
First Book
First Book provides access to new books for children in need. To date, First Book has distributed more than 125 million books and educational resources to programs and schools serving children from low-income families throughout the United States and Canada. First Book is transforming the lives of children in need and elevating the quality of education by making new, high-quality books available on an ongoing basis. No matter how formats and technologies change, children from low-income families will still need access to rich and varied content. First Book is helping guide the publishing industry as it evolves so that all children can benefit from new technologies and flourish as readers.
