BOOK IT! motivates children to read by rewarding their reading accomplishments with praise, recognition and pizza. The program is simple, flexible, fun and free to use in your classroom! The Give Me Twenty Challenge is an online program for early childhood readers. The goal of the program is to build reading-readiness skills and develop an at-home reading routine. BOOK IT! shines a spotlight on establishing a reading routine by issuing a Spring and Fall challenge to young readers and families each school year. The Challenge is open to anyone who has an early childhood reader or preschooler - it can be done individually or by classrooms - no restrictions.
Since 1989, National Young Readers Week has been an annual event held during the second week of November to raise awareness around the importance of reading.
Pizza Hut believes education is the key to unlocking a person's full potential, and we believe that educational success is rooted in childhood reading skills. Since 1984, Pizza Hut has nurtured a love of reading through the BOOK IT! Program – inspiring 1-in-5 Americans along the way! Now, through The Literacy Project, we have an even greater goal – to transform the lives of 100 million people in just 10 years, by enabling access to books and educational resources, empowering teachers and inspiring readers.
